A sports center that was severely damaged in a fire has finally reopened after more than a year of reconstruction. Bearsden Snowsports Club has announced that all of its facilities are now available for use, including a new function suite, bar, and panoramic viewing point.
The fire, which broke out in July 2023, caused significant damage to the catering area of the club, but the sporting facilities were back in operation within a week. The club’s general manager, Gordon Scott, expressed gratitude to the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service for their quick response, which prevented a more catastrophic outcome.
The space that was previously damaged by the fire has now been transformed into a brand new function suite with a panoramic viewing point overlooking the slopes. This renovation was made possible in part by a generous donation from Glasgow businessman John Watson OBE, a former president of the club.
