TV personality Paddy McGuinness recently completed a remarkable 300-mile charity cycle from Wales to Glasgow in support of BBC’s Children in Need. The 51-year-old embarked on this journey from Wrexham AFC’s Racecourse Ground and made his triumphant finish at Pacific Quay in Glasgow after five days of cycling.

Throughout the challenging ride, Paddy managed to raise an impressive sum of over £7.5m for the charity. As he arrived in Glasgow, he was greeted by a crowd of enthusiastic supporters both inside and outside the BBC Scotland building. Reflecting on his journey, Paddy expressed his disbelief and gratitude for the overwhelming reception he received.

What made this charity cycle even more special was the fact that Paddy completed it on his cherished childhood bike, a customised Raleigh Chopper named ‘Patch’. The bike was painted in the signature colors of Children in Need’s mascot, Pudsey, adding a personal touch to the fundraising effort.

During the final leg of the journey, Paddy was joined by Sir Tom Hunter of the Hunter Foundation, who generously matched donations from Radio 2 listeners up to £3m. Sir Tom commended Paddy’s determination and referred to him as an “official national treasure” for his dedication to the cause.

As Paddy cycled into Glasgow, he was met with cheers from the crowd and a warm welcome from fellow celebrities like Chesney Hawkes, Tom Grennan, and Michelle McManus. These famous faces joined in celebrating Paddy’s incredible achievement and showed their support for his fundraising efforts.

In addition to Paddy’s cycle challenge, Michelle McManus and other BBC Radio Scotland presenters took part in a swim challenge to raise funds for Children in Need. The collective effort of these individuals highlights the spirit of generosity and community support that underpins the charity’s mission.
