The STV Children’s Appeal annual telefundraiser is making a comeback with hosts Laura Boyd and Lorraine Kelly teaming up with Appeal heroes and ambassadors. The event will be aired on STV on Friday, November 8, showcasing the efforts being made across Scotland to help children and families in need.
This year, the show was filmed at Glasgow Kelvin College’s Springburn Campus with the assistance of Film Studies students. The college has been working closely with the Appeal to operate ‘community hubs’ that offer various activities and a complimentary evening meal during weekdays for people of all ages.
Laura Boyd and weather presenter Sean Batty embarked on a challenge to visit numerous Scottish landmarks within 48 hours using their ‘Appeal Mobile.’ Their journey, filled with tasks set by local schools and businesses, will also be featured on the show.
Lorraine Kelly, who is both a presenter and STV Appeal Trustee, expressed her joy in supporting another year of fundraising for the STV Children’s Appeal. She emphasized the importance of community support and coming together during tough times, highlighting the essence of the Appeal’s mission.
The telefundraiser marks the end of a week-long series of programming dedicated to the Appeal, starting on November 1. The lineup includes the documentary “The Game Changers,” hosted by Jean Johansson, which explores the influence of role models on young individuals.
Throughout the week, notable personalities like Brian Vox, Marli Sui, and Alan Cumming will make appearances on STV to show their support for the Appeal. Additionally, students from St Andrews RC Secondary School in Glasgow’s East End will take on the role of channel announcers, introducing various STV programs on-air throughout the week.
As the telefundraiser approaches, Lorraine Kelly urges the people of Scotland to tune in and contribute generously to help reach more families and communities in need across the country. The collaborative efforts of students, celebrities, and community members showcase the spirit of unity and compassion that drives the STV Children’s Appeal forward.
