Glasgow has added two new locations to its Glasgow Gift Card scheme. Holmwood and The Tenement House are now part of the program, which allows the card to be used at over 1,200 local businesses, including shops, restaurants, and attractions.

This partnership between the National Trust for Scotland and the Scotland Loves Local Gift Card aims to promote local exploration and spending. The National Trust for Scotland will accept the gift card at 47 of its sites across the country, including castles, gardens, museums, houses, mills, and palaces. Visitors can use the card for admission, in on-site gift shops, and in cafes.

Andrew Roberts, head of retail at the National Trust for Scotland, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating that it is a great way to connect with local communities and encourage them to visit the Trust’s amazing locations while supporting conservation efforts.

The initiative not only benefits local businesses and residents but also supports the charity’s conservation work, with sales at properties contributing to the protection of Scotland’s nature, heritage, and beauty. Councillor Susan Aitken, leader of Glasgow City Council, highlighted the positive impact of the Loves Local card project on the city and its visitors.

The Scotland Loves Local Gift Card was launched in 2021 and has already seen over £15 million spent. This initiative, created by Scotland’s Towns Partnership and Miconex, aims to keep spending within local communities. More than 7,000 Scottish businesses are part of the scheme, with cards purchased by consumers and organizations for various purposes.

Kimberley Guthrie, chief officer of Scotland’s Towns Partnership, emphasized the importance of tourism in supporting local communities and encouraging exploration. Colin Munro, managing director of Miconex, described the Scotland Loves Local Gift Card as a gateway to discovering local attractions, dining options, shopping opportunities, and accommodation.

Overall, the expansion of the Glasgow Gift Card scheme to include Holmwood and The Tenement House provides visitors with more opportunities to explore the city’s attractions while supporting local businesses and conservation efforts. Whether used for admission to historic sites, shopping in gift shops, or enjoying a meal at a cafe, the gift card offers a convenient way to experience the best of what Glasgow has to offer.
