Two fish and chip takeaways in Barrhead have been selected as finalists for the prestigious Scottish Fish and Chip Awards. Alpino’s on Cross Arthurlie Street, which was recognized as the ‘Best Dine in Restaurant’ and ‘Best Family Business’ in the previous year’s awards, is now aiming to win the Best Fish Supper (West) prize this year.

The owners of Alpino’s were thrilled to have their hard work acknowledged last year and are looking forward to the upcoming event. They were even pictured with former East Renfrewshire MP Kirsten Oswald after their success. On the other hand, Kadir’s, located on Main Street, has been shortlisted for the Scotland’s Best Fryer Award, competing against other fryers from different regions, including the Wee Chippy Anstruther.

In addition to Alpino’s and Kadir’s, other East Renfrewshire establishments have also made it to the list of finalists. Mario’s in Giffnock is a contender for the Best Fish Supper (West) Award, while Catch in Giffnock is vying for the Best Fish Tea category.

The gala final is set to take place at the Doubletree by Hilton in Glasgow on November 11, where the winners of various categories will be announced. The competition is expected to be tough, with fish and chip shops from all over the country showcasing their skills in the fish-fryer cook-off.

The Scottish Fish and Chip Awards celebrate the best in the industry, recognizing excellence in various categories such as taste, quality, and customer service. It is a great opportunity for local takeaways to showcase their offerings and gain well-deserved recognition for their hard work and dedication to serving delicious fish and chips to their customers.
