Indie rock legends The Libertines delighted fans with an up-close and personal performance at Assai Records in the city center. The duo, Pete Doherty and Carl Barât, treated a small audience to a 45-minute set of their greatest hits, including classics like “Don’t Look Back into the Sun” and “Can’t Stand Me Now.”
Known for their tumultuous history and chart-topping success in the early 2000s, The Libertines have recently reunited and released a new album, “All Quiet on the Eastern Esplanade.” Despite their past conflicts, Doherty and Barât put on a united front on stage, showcasing their musical chemistry and undeniable talent.
The intimate venue created a special atmosphere for fans, who eagerly lined up outside Assai Records for a chance to see their favorite band up close. Even though there were initial doubts about meeting the fans after the show, Doherty and Barât graciously took the time to pose for selfies and sign autographs, much to the delight of their dedicated followers.
The setlist for the performance included a mix of beloved tracks like “Time for Heroes” and “Can’t Stand Me Now,” as well as some unexpected surprises like an impromptu rendition of “Puff the Magic Dragon.” The duo’s energy and passion shone through in each song, leaving the audience with an unforgettable experience.
Fans who missed out on the intimate Assai Records show can still catch The Libertines at The Barrowland Ballroom on October 17 and 18, although tickets for both nights are already sold out.
