Agnes Morrison, a resident at HC-One Scotland’s Ailsa Craig Care Home in Cessnock, had a special celebration for her 99th birthday last week. Fiona Pryce, the Senior Wellbeing Coordinator, made Agnes’ wish come true by inviting a local entertainer, Kat Muir, to perform at her birthday party. Agnes had previously enjoyed Kat’s performance at the home, so she asked Fiona to arrange for her to come back for her birthday.
The pink-themed party was a hit, with Agnes’ entire family in attendance. They all joined in singing, dancing, and enjoying glasses of pink prosecco. Agnes and Kat even sang one of Agnes’ favorite songs, ‘The Rose,’ together, bringing tears to everyone’s eyes.
Fiona Pryce expressed how privileged she felt to organize the party for Agnes, and she was delighted to see so many of Agnes’ loved ones there. It was a moment that will be cherished by everyone at Ailsa Craig Care Home. Home Manager Donnamarie Newman also shared her joy in celebrating Agnes’ 99th birthday and wished her a happy birthday from the whole Ailsa Craig community.
The residents at Ailsa Craig Care Home must have had a great time celebrating Agnes’ special day. It’s heartwarming to see the effort put in by the wellbeing team to make the event memorable not only for Agnes but also for her family and friends. The power of music and unity was evident as everyone came together to celebrate such a significant milestone.
Events like these remind us of the importance of community and connection, especially in care homes where residents may sometimes feel isolated. It’s wonderful to see the impact that simple gestures, like organizing a birthday party with a favorite singer, can have on the residents’ well-being and happiness.
Agnes’ story is a beautiful example of how small acts of kindness and thoughtfulness can make a big difference in someone’s life, no matter their age. As we celebrate Agnes’ 99th birthday, let’s also remember to cherish our loved ones and create meaningful moments that will be treasured for years to come. Cheers to Agnes and to many more happy moments at Ailsa Craig Care Home!
