For the past six years, Oli Keenan has been the star of Halloween in Clydebank, dazzling trick-or-treaters with his creative costumes and themed displays. This year, Oli transformed into the Wicked Witch from the West, complete with a black dress and green paint, while his family members dressed up as Dorothy, the Tin Man, the Lion, and the Scarecrow to complete the Wizard of Oz theme.
The Keenan family’s house on Dalton Avenue has become a must-see attraction for Halloween enthusiasts, with crowds gathering to admire the handcrafted display that resembled the Emerald City. Children in their own costumes flocked to the house early in the evening to catch a glimpse of the magical setting.
Oli, fully embracing his role as the Wicked Witch, entertained the crowds with witty remarks and stayed in character throughout the night. He even went the extra mile by wearing prosthetics imported from Germany to enhance his costume.
In an interview with the Glasgow Times, Oli expressed his love for The Wizard of Oz, stating that it has been one of his favorite films since childhood. He shared his excitement about planning next year’s Halloween display, as he always looks ahead and aims to outdo himself each year.
Despite the challenges of wearing full-face prosthetics and the uncertainty of how to remove them, Oli remained in good spirits and joked about possibly staying in character forever. He mentioned that he works from home, so showing up to work with green skin wouldn’t be a problem.
Looking forward to future Halloween celebrations, Oli admitted that he had not yet decided on a theme for next year’s display. He typically lets ideas come to him naturally over time, and he is confident that he will come up with something creative and entertaining.
As the night came to an end, Oli reflected on the success of this year’s Wizard of Oz-themed display and thanked the community for their support and enthusiasm. Despite the challenges of organizing such elaborate Halloween setups, Oli remains committed to bringing joy and laughter to his neighborhood each year.
