OneRen Apologizes for Early Closure of Erskine Swimming Pool
Erskine Swimming Pool at Bridgewater Shopping Centre is set to close earlier than planned for maintenance due to a new system fault, OneRen has announced. The closure, initially scheduled for Monday, December 16, has been expedited after the facility recently shut down because of issues with its air handling units (AHUs), resulting in inadequate water and air temperatures for operation.
Immediate Improvement Works
In response to the unforeseen closure, OneRen will now commence improvement works promptly, including draining the pool in the coming days. A OneRen spokesperson expressed regret over the situation, stating, “Despite our best efforts, we have been unable to resolve those issues.” The spokesperson further explained, “It has become apparent that the problem we are experiencing with the AHUs cannot be addressed prior to the planned closure for refurbishment. We have, therefore, accelerated the closure date for Erskine Pool.”
Investment in Customer Experience
To enhance customer experience, OneRen is investing £65,000 in retiling the pool and replacing the filter medium during the closure period. The refurbishment aims to improve the overall quality of the pool for patrons. However, the pool is expected to remain closed until the end of February, causing inconvenience for the local community.
Councillor’s Concerns
Councillor Sam Mullin, representing Erskine and Inchinnan, acknowledged the impact of the closure on residents, especially those who rely on the pool for recreational activities. Mullin remarked, “It’s going to be a disappointment for people…it’s going to be a dent because it means people have got to travel if they want to go swimming.” He emphasized the importance of resolving the issue promptly for the community’s benefit.
Customer Communication and Support
Customers enrolled in swimming lessons at Erskine Swimming Pool will receive direct communication regarding the closure and resumption of classes. Direct debit payments for lessons will be suspended until classes recommence. In the meantime, alternative pool facilities at Lagoon Leisure Centre, On-X Linwood, Renfrew Victory Baths, and Johnstone Community Sports Hub will remain open for customers to utilize.
