Alright, so check this out – Sean Crighton has been named as the new head honcho at Queen’s Park. The dude is 35 years old and snagged the gig after filling in as part of the interim coaching crew for about six weeks at the end of the season. The team managed to keep their spot in the Championship under the watch of interim boss Steven MacLean, who has since bounced out of there.
Crighton swooped in to lend a hand with the first-team shenanigans after being involved with the B team over at Queen’s Park. He actually led the club to a second SPFL Reserve League title before snagging the big boss role. The guy first dipped his toes into coaching over at Morton, where he juggled playing and being head of youth. From there, he coached at Airdire and even had a stint as the top dog at Stenhousemuir.
President of Queen’s Park FC, Graeme Shields, said, “Yo, so I’m stoked to have Sean on board as our head coach. He’s been killing it around the training grounds, working with both the first team and the B team, which he led to another Reserve League title. Sean’s gonna start putting together his coaching crew and getting the squad ready for preseason next month. Oh, and big shoutout to Steven MacLean for holding it down as interim head coach and keeping us in the Championship for next season.”
Sean himself chimed in, saying, “I’m pumped to be taking on this role at Queen’s Park. The club has a rad history in the game and I’m looking forward to the new challenges ahead. There’s gonna be some changes happening this summer, but I’ve seen the talent within the club and I’m ready to tackle whatever comes our way.”
In a statement, Queen’s Park FC shared, “We’re hype to announce Sean Crighton as our new head coach. Fans will recognize him from leading the B team to victory last season and stepping in as part of the interim coaching squad towards the end of the Championship run. A former central defender, Sean racked up over 550 games in the Scottish league and holds various coaching licenses. He started out at Morton, then did some player-coaching at Airdrie and even took the reins at Stenhousemuir for a bit. He’s also worked with Hamilton’s under-18s and snagged some success in the SPFL under-18s league before moving over to Queen’s Park and clinching the Reserve League title with the B team.”
So there you have it – Sean Crighton is the new head coach at Queen’s Park, ready to lead the team to victory in the upcoming season. Let’s see what he’s got up his sleeve!
