Scotland Manager Steve Clarke is closely watching the progress of Lennon Miller as the World Cup qualifiers approach. Former national team player Stephen O’Donnell revealed that Miller, who plays for Motherwell, will soon receive a call-up to the Scotland national team.
Miller has been performing exceptionally well for Motherwell this season and even captained the team in a recent match against Rangers. Despite having midfield options like Billy Gilmour and Scott McTominay, Clarke has not yet called up the young talent for the national team.
O’Donnell, who played for Scotland 26 times, believes that Clarke is keen on including young players in the senior squad. He mentioned that Clarke is impressed with Miller’s abilities and that it’s only a matter of time before he gets promoted to the national team.
The emergence of talented young players like Miller, Gilmour, and Ferguson is a positive sign for Scottish football. O’Donnell highlighted the importance of nurturing young talent and supporting grassroots football in the country. He emphasized the role of grassroots football in developing future stars and called for more investment in the grassroots level.
O’Donnell also expressed his hope that Miller will continue to shine at Motherwell and serve as an inspiration for young aspiring footballers. He stressed the need for continued support for grassroots football to ensure the growth and development of the sport in Scotland.
The SFA & McDonald’s Grassroots Football Awards, which celebrate the efforts of grassroots football heroes, were promoted by Motherwell and Scotland defender Stephen O’Donnell. The awards recognize individuals who contribute to the grassroots football community and help in nurturing young talent for the future of the sport.
