Review of Greggs Christmas Menu: Festive Delights and One Vegan Bake Woe
As the holiday season draws near, the Glasgow Times team decided to dive into Greggs’ festive menu to uncover the truth behind the seasonal offerings – and the verdict was mostly positive, with one notable exception.
Feasting Festively
On a bustling Friday afternoon in December, our team ventured into the beloved Greggs store to sample their Christmas delights. Known for their iconic sausage rolls and delectable treats, Greggs has been a staple in British cuisine since 1951.
This year’s Christmas menu boasted a variety of options, including the Festive Bake, Vegan Festive Bake, Christmas Lunch Baguette, Festive Flatbread, and a selection of hot and cold beverages.
The Tasting Experience
We indulged in the Festive Bake, the Vegan Festive Bake, the Christmas Lunch Baguette, and the Gingerbread Latte. The Festive Bake was a standout, earning a solid nine out of 10 for its flavorful combination of chicken, sage, onion stuffing, and bacon enveloped in a creamy cranberry sauce.
The Vegan Festive Bake, however, left much to be desired. Described as “peely weely” by one colleague, it fell short in terms of texture and flavor, scoring a modest five out of 10.
A Feast Fit for Santa
The Christmas Lunch Baguette stole the show, with its crispy bacon, savory chicken, bacon, cheddar cheese, and stuffing creating a delightful medley of flavors. Priced at £3.80, it was a crowd favorite in the Glasgow Times office, earning rave reviews for its taste and texture.
The Gingerbread Latte proved to be a hit as well, with its balanced blend of coffee and gingerbread flavors winning over our team. Priced at a reasonable £2.50, it was hailed as a perfect festive treat to warm up the holiday season.
In conclusion, Greggs’ Christmas menu offers a delightful array of options for those seeking a quick bite or a cozy meal during the festive season. While some items stood out more than others, overall, the experience was a tasty journey through the flavors of Christmas. So why not treat yourself to a festive feast at Greggs this holiday season?
