Rangers are still eyeing a potential loan move for Leeds United’s Joe Gelhardt in the upcoming January transfer window. Previously, a few clubs were disappointed when Leeds decided against letting the 22-year-old go out on loan in the summer. However, with the winter transfer window looming, several clubs, including Rangers, are expressing interest in signing Gelhardt.
The Yorkshire Evening Post has reported that up to 10 teams, including Rangers, Portsmouth, Stoke City, Plymouth Argyle, Preston North End, and some Belgian clubs, are looking to secure Gelhardt’s services. Last January, Celtic also showed interest in the player, but talks did not materialize into a deal.
Leeds manager Daniel Farke emphasized Gelhardt’s importance to the team, stating that he is a valuable member of the squad and has been getting playing time. Farke mentioned that he is not inclined to let more players leave, especially in attacking positions, as the team aims to maintain its squad and potentially strengthen it.
Despite Leeds’ stance, Gelhardt is reportedly keen on going out on loan at the earliest opportunity. As the January transfer window approaches, the situation could evolve, and it will be interesting to see if Rangers or any other club can secure a deal for the talented attacker. Stay tuned for updates as the transfer window draws near.
