Celtic Connections, a folk, roots, and world music festival, is set to light up Glasgow from January 16 to February 2, 2025. This year marks the festival’s 32nd year, with a lineup that promises to be unforgettable.
With around 300 events spread across 25 venues, the festival is expected to draw in approximately 110,000 visitors and host 1,200 musicians and artists. From iconic venues like Barrowland Ballroom to SWG3, Saint Luke’s, and Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, the city will be buzzing with music and art.
Donald Shaw, the creative producer for Celtic Connections, expressed his pride in the festival’s role as a hub for new music and art. The lineup for 2025 aims to blend international icons with emerging acts, creating unique performances and collaborations that will leave audiences in awe.
One exciting addition this year is a new pass for individuals under 26, offering discounted tickets to make the festival more accessible to younger music enthusiasts. In addition, Celtic Connections will kick off with an opening concert celebrating Glasgow’s 850th birthday, featuring a mix of music, dance, and film.
This year, the festival boasts a lineup that showcases more female headliners than ever before, including the likes of KT Tunstall, Madison Cunningham, and Abi Sampa. Fans can also look forward to performances by Grammy-award-winning Americana singer Lyle Lovett, Glaswegian indie pop band The Bluebells, and a special show by folk band Breabach with the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra.
Bailie Annette Christie, chair of Glasgow Life, praised Celtic Connections as a standout event on Scotland’s cultural calendar, bringing together talented musicians from around the world. Culture Secretary Angus Robertson echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the festival’s growing global reputation and its role in showcasing the best in folk, roots, and international music.
