Drivers in Glasgow city center should prepare themselves for some major chaos as a bunch of road closures have been announced ahead of the Men’s 10K and Women’s 10K races. These events are scheduled to go down on Sunday, June 15, 2025, and will result in the shut down of several key routes from 5am all the way until 4pm.

Major streets like Argyle Street, Buchanan Street, and Clyde Street are going to be affected by these closures. And it’s not just about the roads being closed; no waiting, loading, or unloading will be allowed on these streets from 3pm on Saturday, June 14, until 4pm on Sunday, June 15.

So, if you were planning on cruising down one of these roads during that time, you might want to rethink your route. These restrictions apply to all vehicles, except of course those with the blessing of Glasgow City Council’s events team and the emergency services rushing to deal with incidents.

Now, here comes the fun part – the list of roads that will be affected by this whole shindig:

• Anderston Quay (between Hydepark Street and Lancefield Quay)

• Argyle Street (between Hope Street and Queen Street)

And to add a little extra spice to the mix, bus and taxi-only lanes on some streets will be taking a break between 3am and 4pm on Sunday. The Glasgow City Council claims that these closures are absolutely necessary to make sure that everyone participating, watching, or just trying to get from point A to point B stays safe.

The Men’s and Women’s 10K races are going to be quite the event, with hundreds of runners and visitors expected to descend upon the city from all corners of the country. So, if you’re a resident or commuter in the area, it’s probably a good idea to plan your journeys ahead of time to avoid any unnecessary delays.
