Celtic, the Scottish Premiership champions, have been revealed to have the ninth most valuable squad in the world, excluding UEFA’s top 10 ranked associations. According to Football Benchmark, the total value of Celtic’s players is estimated to be a staggering €137m, with an average squad age of 26.
Among the top divisions from nations worldwide, Celtic is joined by prominent European and South American clubs like River Plate, RB Salzburg, Palmeiras, Shakhtar Donetsk, and Flamengo. Interestingly, the top four clubs with the highest squad values outside of UEFA’s top associations are all from Saudi Arabia, including Al-Itthad, Al-Hilal, Al-Ahli, and Al-Nassr, where Cristiano Ronaldo plays.
Flamengo, a renowned Brazilian side, holds the top spot with a squad value of €210m. When excluding Europe’s major leagues like the Premier League and La Liga, Celtic’s presence in the top 10 is not surprising.
During the summer transfer window, Celtic’s manager Brendan Rodgers made significant investments, spending around £30m on players like Arne Engels for £11m and Adam Idah for £9m. The departure of Matt O’Riley to Brighton for over £25m allowed Celtic to make more substantial transfers than usual.
In other news, the highly anticipated Scottish Premiership match between Celtic and Aberdeen will not be televised by Sky Sports. Despite being a table-topping clash, the game was not selected for coverage during the weekend of October 19/20. Instead, Sky Sports opted to broadcast the match between Kilmarnock and Rangers.
