Generations Unite at Knightswood Christmas Light Switch-On Event
Residents, local churches, primary pupils, and elected officials in Knightswood came together for a dazzling Christmas tree light switch-on event despite the pouring rain. The event, held at Knightswood Cross, marked the beginning of the festive season with a community collaboration involving High Knightswood and Anniesland Community Council, Knightswood Connects, Knightswood Anniesland Trinity Church, local schools, and the ward 14 Area Partnership. This event has been hailed as a ‘first’ for the area, bringing people of all ages together.

Councillor Anne McTaggart expressed her delight at the intergenerational gathering, thanking the various organizations, schools, and volunteers involved in making the event a success. Attendees were treated to warm refreshments at St Ninian’s Church Hall after witnessing the Christmas lights illuminate the area.

Georgie Gaston echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the joy of spending time with loved ones.
Jessica D’Arcy and Ryan Agidigbi, pupils from Knightswood and St Ninian’s primary schools, respectively, shared their excitement about the festive event and their anticipation for Christmas gifts. Aisosa Agidigbi found the Christmas lights beautiful and eagerly awaited all the holiday season has to offer. Rylie Hall, celebrating her birthday on Christmas, expressed her happiness at the event and her excitement for both the lights and upcoming celebrations with a wish list for Santa.
