The 10th Style Mile Carnival is set to light up the streets of Glasgow city center this weekend with a fantastic array of fantasy characters, giant artworks, performing troupes, dancers, and musicians. The Christmas Carnival Carousel will kick off at 1pm on Sunday, November 24, offering free festive fun and entertainment as part of the annual Glasgow Loves Christmas celebration.
Starting from the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall steps, where a giant festive Glasgow Coat of Arms stands, visitors can engage with 22 jolly creations at 12 different locations along the route, bringing the streets to life from Buchanan Galleries, past Princes Square and Argyll Arcade, all the way to St Enoch Centre.
Shoppers and pedestrians will be delighted by a magical show featuring cheerful Christmas-themed characters such as a larger-than-life Father Christmas, the red-nosed reindeer Rudolph, playful elves, dancing snowflakes, stilt walkers, and more.
Attendees also have the opportunity to snap a memorable photograph and receive one of 500 limited edition souvenirs by visiting the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity shop in Buchanan Galleries. Additionally, all visitors can scan a QR code on each character to unlock great deals available around the Style Mile.
Lord Provost Jacqueline McLaren, along with Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity Christmas card winner Anya Rashid, 8, who is currently undergoing treatment at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, were present at the carnival launch event.
The Lord Provost highlighted that the Glasgow Loves Christmas events program will provide a much-needed boost for city center businesses. She expressed that the Style Mile Carnival always brings a joyful and festive atmosphere to the city center, with imaginative creations breathing life into the streets and creating a sense of holiday cheer for everyone. After enjoying the carnival, attendees can head to George Square to witness the festive lights and the projection show illuminating the City Chambers.
In addition to the carnival, Glasgow’s Christmas program features the Winterfest markets in George Square and St Enoch Square, as well as the upcoming Glasgow Santa Dash scheduled for Sunday, December 8.
