Glasgow Film Theatre is celebrating its 50th year and has recently announced its exciting festive film schedule for Christmas. The highlight of the programme is the annual screenings of the classic movie It’s A Wonderful Life by Frank Capra, which has become a must-see event in Glasgow during the holiday season. In the past 17 years, only four films have surpassed the sales of It’s A Wonderful Life at the GFT Box Office.
Fans of classic films can also look forward to the return of other favorites such as The Bishop’s Wife and White Christmas. Families can enjoy the beloved movies Elf and The Muppet Christmas Carol. For those looking for a different kind of Christmas movie, Die Hard and Gremlins have made it onto the schedule. Other notable films being shown include The Holdovers, In Bruges, Comfort and Joy, and Eyes Wide Shut.
In addition to the film screenings, special Q&A sessions have been added to the schedule. The new documentary The Contestant will feature a recorded Q&A with the contestant Nabusi. Director Daniel Draper and photographer Simon Murphy will be present for a Q&A session following the screening of their documentary Liverpool Story, which showcases a year in the life of the city of Liverpool.
Co-writer and co-director Sam Crane will also be attending a Q&A session after a special screening of Grand Theft Hamlet. This unique film tells the story of two actors who staged a production of Shakespeare’s Hamlet using the video game Grand Theft Auto during lockdown.
