The Scottish Fire & Rescue Service Santa Dash is back for 2024, promising a fun-filled event for the whole family while supporting a great cause. This year’s event will take place on December 1 at the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service (SFRS) National Training Centre in Cambuslang.
Participants can look forward to a 5km run around the training centre, with a separate 1km dash for children under 16. Everyone is encouraged to dress up in their best Christmas costumes for the event. In addition to the run, there will be Christmas markets, face painting, a Santa’s Grotto, and even a giant inflatable helter-skelter for entertainment.
The Santa Dash offers a unique opportunity for the public to explore the training facility, which is usually not open to visitors. Greg Hastings, a wellbeing practitioner at the SFRS, emphasized the inclusive nature of the event, welcoming both fire service personnel and the general public to participate.
Tickets for the Santa Dash are priced at £10, with free entry for children under 16. All proceeds from the event will be donated to The Fire Fighters Charity, which provides support to firefighters and their families facing various challenges, both mental and physical.
Lyndsay Campbell, a regional fundraiser for the charity, highlighted the importance of their work in assisting firefighters dealing with traumatic incidents and offering them the necessary support. The event is not competitive, and participants can enjoy a raffle with exciting prizes and delicious cakes provided by a local Greggs branch.
The Santa Dash schedule includes a 1km kids’ dash at 10:30 am and the 5km run at 11 am on December 1. Anyone interested in participating can find tickets and more information on the event’s website.
Don’t miss this opportunity to join the festive fun, support your local firefighters, and make a difference in the community by participating in the 2024 Scottish Fire & Rescue Service Santa Dash!
