A Glasgow coffee shop has recently been named the best in the world by a coffee industry publication. Dear Green Coffee Roasters on E Campbell Street has been awarded the prestigious Micro Roaster of the Year award by Roast Magazine. This annual award recognizes exceptional coffee quality, sustainability practices, community engagement, and excellence in roasting.

Dear Green Coffee Roasters competed against coffee roasters from around the globe and emerged as the top choice among those producing less than 100,000 pounds of coffee each year. This achievement marks a significant milestone as the first European roastery to receive this esteemed award.

The team at Dear Green Coffee Roasters consists of ten dedicated individuals who have poured their passion and commitment into their craft. Lisa Lawson, who started her journey in the coffee industry while living in Australia before returning to Scotland, expressed her disbelief and gratitude at receiving this accolade. She mentioned how the specialty coffee scene in Scotland has evolved over the years, and winning this award is a testament to the growth and maturity of the industry in the region.

Anna Plain, the head roaster at Dear Green, also shared her excitement and humility at being recognized among such esteemed roasteries worldwide. The entire team is thrilled about this achievement and has been receiving congratulatory messages from coffee enthusiasts across the globe.

In addition to this prestigious award, Dear Green Coffee Roasters has recently passed B Corp’s recertification process and has pledged to achieve Net Zero status by 2030. Last year, the roastery produced nearly 100,000 pounds of coffee with a team of ten individuals, including a full-time sustainability coordinator.

This recognition highlights the dedication and innovation of Dear Green Coffee Roasters in producing high-quality coffee while prioritizing sustainability and community engagement. It serves as a shining example of Scottish excellence on the global stage and reinforces the growth of the specialty coffee industry in the region.
