Plans have been unveiled to upgrade a football ground in Johnstone Burgh’s Keanie Park. An application for planning permission has been submitted to Renfrewshire Council outlining various improvements to the stadium.
The proposed upgrades include the replacement and addition of lighting columns, the installation of a 4G Astro pitch, portable WC toilet blocks, prefabricated spectator stands, as well as mechanical, electrical, and other engineering works. These enhancements aim to maximize the use of the pitch, allowing for games during winter months and evenings, in line with SFA requirements.
The application, submitted by GlenEtive Projects on behalf of club director Scott Graham, is currently under review by the council. The club’s recent promotion to the West of Scotland Football League Premier Division has highlighted the need for these upgrades to meet SFA standards.
The ultimate goal of these improvements is to transform the facility into a community club that caters to all groups within the local community. The focus is on creating a welcoming and inclusive environment that promotes sports, health, and well-being in Johnstone.
By enhancing the pitch, club, and overall facility, the proposed renovations are expected to have a positive impact on the local community. The project is seen as a crucial step towards making the stadium more accessible and accommodating for individuals of all abilities.
Overall, the planned upgrades at Johnstone Burgh’s Keanie Park reflect a commitment to fostering community engagement, promoting physical activity, and creating a space where everyone can come together to enjoy the beautiful game of football.
