Chivas Brothers HQ Site for Sale – A Valuable Real Estate Opportunity

Part of the former Chivas Brothers HQ site is now available for purchase. The vacant site, covering approximately 2.1 acres, is currently being marketed by Avison Young, a commercial real estate firm based in Edinburgh.

Previously owned by Renfrewshire Council, the site includes the C-listed former Chivas Brothers administration building and Kersland House. The administration building, originally intended for the company’s administrative functions, served as the main frontage to a warehouse and bottling site spanning 14 acres, which was demolished in 2021.

Situated just one kilometre north of Paisley town centre, the site boasts a prominent roadside location with direct roundabout access from Renfrew Road (A7410). According to the listing, the site offers potential for refurbishment or new build development, presenting opportunities for various uses such as commercial, residential, food and drink, leisure, hospitality, and nursery services.

Adjacent to the new Paisley Grammar School, currently under construction, and the planned link road to the new White Cart Bridge, the site holds strategic importance. It forms part of the original 24-acre HQ site, a significant portion of which was sold to Renfrewshire Council by Chivas Brothers owners Pernod Ricard in 2020.

The remaining section of the site, including the North Hall, was acquired by Scottish Leather Group, based in Bridge of Weir. Renfrewshire Council consulted architects to assess the feasibility of retaining the main administrative building, constructed between 1962 and 1964 with a design reminiscent of a traditional Scottish country house, as part of the new Paisley Grammar School.

Despite initial considerations, the iconic main building was ultimately excluded from the campus development plans, with the school scheduled to open in August 2026. This decision reflects the evolving landscape of Paisley’s urban development and the need to adapt to modern educational requirements.

The availability of the former Chivas Brothers HQ site presents a unique opportunity for investors and developers to contribute to the revitalization of this prime real estate. With its versatile development potential and strategic location, the site holds promise for innovative projects that can enhance the local community and economic landscape.

As Paisley continues to undergo transformation and growth, the sale of this site marks a significant chapter in the ongoing evolution of the town’s urban environment. Interested parties are encouraged to explore the possibilities offered by this valuable piece of real estate and contribute to the future development of Paisley’s vibrant cityscape.
