Super Dedicated Schoolgirl Jessica Excited to Compete in Strictly Kids Ballroom Dancing Competition

Jessica Connolly, a 10-year-old student at Our Lady of the Missions Primary in Thornliebank, has been selected to participate in the prestigious Strictly Kids ballroom dancing competition. This event, inspired by the popular BBC TV show Strictly Come Dancing, is a platform for budding ballroom dancers to showcase their talents and compete for the coveted Glitterball Trophy. Jessica’s excitement and dedication to dancing shine through as she prepares to take the stage with her partner, Jorgie McGowan, at the Doubletree by Hilton in Glasgow on October 6.

A Dream Come True for Jessica

For Jessica, being chosen to compete in Strictly Kids is a dream come true. Last year, she was set to participate in the event, but her partner had to withdraw at the last moment, leaving her unable to showcase her skills. This year, however, Jessica’s perseverance and hard work have paid off, and she is thrilled to have the opportunity to dance alongside her friend and regular partner, Jorgie.

“Jessica was ecstatic when she found out she was selected for Strictly Kids,” said Jessica’s mother, Gemma. “Dancing is her passion, and her big dream is to one day be on the actual Strictly Come Dancing show. She has been dedicated to dancing for about five years now, practicing four days a week to perfect her skills and routines.”

A Match Made in Dance Heaven

The bond between Jessica and Jorgie is undeniable, both on and off the dance floor. As soon as Jessica learned she had been chosen for the competition, her first question was about her partner. To her delight, she was paired with her dear friend Jorgie, with whom she shares a special connection through dance.

“They are always practicing together and have a great synergy as a dance duo,” Gemma explained. “Their first competition together earlier this year in Falkirk was a huge success, as they won 11 medals. Jessica and Jorgie complement each other’s strengths and are excited to showcase their talents in Strictly Kids.”

Expressing Herself Through Dance

Despite being a shy and introverted girl in everyday life, dancing brings out a whole new side of Jessica. Gemma shared that Jessica’s quiet demeanor transforms when she steps onto the dance floor, allowing her to express herself in a unique and captivating way.

“Dance is Jessica’s outlet for self-expression,” Gemma noted. “While she may appear reserved in person, her confidence shines through when she competes. It’s a beautiful transformation to witness, and dance has truly become a part of who she is.”

Jessica and Jorgie, under the guidance of their instructor Warren Brown from the Warren Brown Sundance Academy in Paisley, are now preparing diligently for their performance at Strictly Kids. They will work on perfecting their routine, incorporating elements of ballroom dance and acrobatics to create a memorable and engaging performance for the judges and audience.

A Charitable Endeavor

In addition to showcasing Scotland’s talented young dancers, Strictly Kids also serves as a fundraising event for charitable causes. This year, the chosen charity is The Miracle Foundation, an organization based in Motherwell that supports families dealing with bereavement. Jessica, who raised £300 for the charity last year despite not being able to participate in the event, is once again dedicated to supporting the cause.

To raise funds for The Miracle Foundation, Jessica has set up a JustGiving page and is exploring various creative fundraising ideas, including selling homemade loom bands. Gemma humorously shared, “I’ve been busy making loom bands at home to support Jessica’s fundraising efforts. She is determined to contribute to the charity and make a difference through her passion for dance.”

Warren and Dianne from the Sundance Academy expressed their pride in Jessica and Jorgie’s dedication to dance and their achievements in the competitive scene. They praised the duo for their hard work, camaraderie, and the joy they bring to their performances.

“We are thrilled to see Jessica and Jorgie excel in their dancing journey,” Warren and Dianne shared. “Their commitment and talent have earned them numerous medals, and we have no doubt they will dazzle the Strictly Kids dancefloor. We look forward to witnessing their ‘J&J sass’ in action and cheering them on as they strive for the Glitterball Trophy.”

In conclusion, Jessica’s passion for dance, her dedication to perfecting her craft, and her charitable spirit shine through as she prepares to compete in the upcoming Strictly Kids competition. With the support of her family, friends, instructors, and fellow dancers, Jessica is poised to showcase her talent and spread joy through the art of dance.
